Leather can be traced back to the distant Stone Age.

Leather material used for 'clothing' appeared since the Stone Age.  As human civilazation flourished, leather flourished as well!  During the Medieval Period, leather was worn by soldiers for better protection.  Royalities and nobles wore leather as a symbol of status and power. Leather continues to be renowned by all fashion designers to this day.
